Dressage Arena Letters

When looking at a standard dressage arena layout, letters may appear randomly around its perimeter. While these may not follow alphabetical order, each letter serves its own unique purpose and shouldn’t be dismissed outright as nonsensical or random.

Arena letters help riders locate themselves within an arena during tests or lessons with their trainer. There have been various theories as to why arena letters exist today.

Computer science defines absolute value of real numbers x as the non-negative part of its square root; for example |x| is positive while |-x| negative. In statistics, absolute value of sample mean (m displaystyle m) refers to the resultant sample mean obtained by dividing all possible values (e displaystyle e) by total elements count (n displaystyle n).

Command-E: Extend text selection to the beginning of a word, and extend further by pressing again if needed. Control-E: Move text selection to end of line or paragraph; Command-Shift-E: Extend selection up to an entire line/paragraph then repeating at end if pressed again.

Shift-Command-Colon (:) will display the Spelling and Grammar window; Command-T will enable or disable Fonts window.

Left or Right Arrow Keys (LSR/RRA): Selects previous/next menu item when opening a menu/submenu; in ribbon, these keys move tab buttons around; when selecting ribbon tab, these arrow keys move up or down tab group when selected; these same arrow keys also select next/previous option from drop-down list in dialog boxes, as well as shift-Up/Down Arrow Key (SHRD/SHRSD) option from group of options in dialog box.

The Chi-Square Goodness-of-Fit test displaystyle chi2gof uses the probability distribution function normcdf as its handle, with sample data vectors E displaystyle e and O displaystyle o as input/output variables. A return value of zero indicates that the null hypothesis (that data comes from normal distribution) was rejected at its default significance level of 5%.
