Cantera, meaning “distance,” is the name of a controlled three-beat gait of a horse or other quadruped, moderately faster than a trot, but smoother and more rhythmic than a gallop. Lopez-Cantera was elected to his first full term as Florida’s lieutenant governor in the 2014 elections, running on the Republican ticket with Gov. Rick Scott.
